Free Dolores Chili at Superior Grocers’ store grand opening

You might not be able to find much excitement in doing some holiday shopping this weekend with crowds and lines in mind, but some Los Angeles area shoppers can rest assured.

Dolores Chili and Superior Grocers will spice up the shopping experience with free samples of Dolores Chili Fritos®, also known as “Pepper Bellies”, at Superior’s newest store in South Los Angeles (Baldwin Hills).

During its grand opening weekend, the store will host Dolores Chili from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday (November 17-18) and give shoppers a taste of its Dolores Chili Brick, sold in all 40 Superior locations in the fresh meat case.

Dolores Chili can be served as a stand-alone dish, or combined to enhance burgers, hot dogs, nachos and French fries. It is also common for concessioners to sell “Pepper Bellies.”

The new Superior location, store # 39, is located on the corner of Rodeo Drive and La Brea at 3480 La Brea Drive.

With a nod to its shape, the aptly named Dolores Chili Brick has been enjoyed by chili lovers since its introduction in 1973. To this day, Dolores is famous for its beef and chicken brick-shaped chili.
