What’s a tailgate party without some chili?

“USC and UCLA fans will kick-off this football season with a special tailgate party, the Ralphs Ultimate Tailgate Experience,” that includes delicious food and beverages from an array of sponsors and all the pre-game excitement before select Trojan and Bruin home football games.

Dolores Chili is among participating sponsors at the 13 USC and UCLA home games where the event will be hosted and will be on site sampling their famous all-beef Chili Brick while offering giveaways and future product discounts to fans enjoying the game day fun.

The “Ralphs Ultimate Tailgate Experience” includes a buffet lunch to all attendees, and what goes better on grilled burgers and dogs than Dolores Chili?

Samples of straight chili will also be available for those who prefer.

Dolores’ all-beef, one-pound brick chili is available in the fresh meat case at Ralphs stores statewide. The frozen chili is ready to thaw, heat and serve, and a single one-pound brick serves up to four people.

Each tailgate event begins either three hours (USC) or four hours (UCLA) before kickoff.

Ralphs customers will receive an offer printed on the bottom of their receipt good for entrance into the tailgate party, after purchasing $35 in participating items using their rewards card. According to the Ralphs website, for every increment of $35 in participating item purchases made, the number of persons eligible for free admission printed on the receipt increases. No tickets to the tailgate event will be available for purchase. Eligible events will also be printed on the receipt.

Every January since 2011, Dolores Chili has been teaming up with Philippe the Original in Downtown LA to offer chili lovers a little something free. It's become more and more popular and the day many have waited for is finally here, the eight annual Free Chili Day. The first 500 customers at Philippe’s on Tuesday, Jan. 23 beginning at 10:30 a.m. will receive a voucher for a free cup of Dolores chili, with the purchase of a sandwich. Guests will receive a voucher at one of the two main entrances upon arriving to the restaurant. They can present them to a Philippe's carver at the order counter to get a free cup of chili, with or without beans, and topped with shredded cheddar cheese, or onions. Dolores Chili and Philippe’s have a relationship built upon time. The 1970’s is where it all began and Dolores Chili is still the exclusive chili sold at Philippe’s. Both establishments have plenty in common being family-owned and Los Angeles-based. Dolores and Philippe’s are run by third and fourth generation family members, respectively, and both are built with the intent of hard work and core values that make them so great. Philippe’s, being one of the oldest and best known restaurants in Southern California, is renowned by its chili, which pairs well with any of their signature French Dips, including: beef, pork, ham, lamb, turkey and pastrami. Dolores Chili is available at Philippe’s daily by the cup or bowl, with or without beans, shredded cheddar or onions, and is served with a side of crackers. Some French Dip lovers even like to dip or top their sandwich with the chili. Dolores Chili is made at Dolores Canning Co. located in East Los Angeles. The Dolores Chili Brick is sold in 16 oz. packages in grocery stores throughout the West Coast, including: Ralph’s, Food 4 Less, Stater Brothers, Vons, Albertson's and Walmart. Another option is a five-pound tray for larger entertainment feasts like the big game at Smart & Final. They also offer chicken and vegetarian versions. Dolores Chili announced this week that their 1-pound all beef Chili Brick is now available in all Smart & Final stores.  The award-winning Dolores Chili - both beef and chicken - has been available at several Smart&Final stores throughout Southern California for decades, but the addition of the 1-pound beef chili into all Smart&Final stores is exciting for chili lovers everywhere. Smart&Final has carried the 5-pound Dolores Chili tray. However, the smaller, 1-pound brick is favored by those who are looking to use it to feed fewer as a topping on burgers, hot dogs or for a side dish to complement other items.
