Dolores Chili to sample in Chicago area Food4Less stores
For those looking for a warm culinary treat during the cold of fall and winter, Dolores Chili has the tasty answer. Beginning Saturday, Dec. 1, grocery shoppers at select Chicago Food 4 Less stores, can learn how to make “Pepper Bellies.”
This delectable treat combines Dolores Chili with crunchy Fritos© Corn Chips to satisfy any appetite. Demonstrators will present the proper way to prepare Dolores’ famous All-Beef Chili Brick topped with the popular snack. In addition to demonstrating their product, Dolores will also offer discounted pricing on its Chili Brick. 
The product demos are just another way to introduce the Chicago market to the West Coast chili, since Dolores was recently brought to the Windy City by popular demand.
“An area like Chicago has everything we’re looking for when it comes to expanding our Chili,” said Dolores Canning president David Muñoz, anticipating an expansion beyond 16 Food 4 Less stores. “Dolores Chili in Chicago Food 4 Less stores is a recipe for success that benefits both company’s customers. Chicago is the farthest east the Dolores All-Beef Chili Brick has been sold in-store to chili enthusiasts. Originally founded in 1954 as a distributor of beef and pork products, the Los Angeles-based Dolores Canning Company is a family affair. The processing plant was started by patriarch Basilio Muñoz, with matriarch Dolores as the face of the company.
With a nod to its shape, the aptly named Dolores Chili Brick has been enjoyed by chili lovers since its introduction in 1973. Today, Dolores is famous for its beef and chicken brick-shaped chili, and is widely considered the top selling frozen All Beef Chili on the West Coast.
Dolores Chili is served at hundreds of restaurants throughout the region, including Philippe The Original in Los Angeles. The popular Chili can be purchased at stores such as Ralphs, Albertsons, Vons, Stater Bros, Smart & Final, Winco and countless independent stores.
Currently, Dolores Chili is the number-two selling item in the fresh meat case at Kroger stores, including Ralphs and Food 4 Less, behind only Oscar Meyer products. Kroger operates Food 4 Less stores in California, Illinois, Indiana, Nebraska and Nevada.
