DOLORES CHILI MAKING AN IMPACT IN THE COMMUNITY

At Dolores Chili, we’re passionate about giving back to our community! We frequently donate and serve Dolores Chili, and some of our other products like menudo, at community events and fundraisers.

Community event attendees sponsored by Dolores Chili get to dive into a bowl of goodness that not only tantalizes taste buds but also warms souls! At Dolores Chili, we believe that every bite should make a difference. Our famous chili is more than just a delicious dish; it’s a movement dedicated to giving back to the schools and organizations in our community.

But we don’t stop at serving mouthwatering chili at events like fundraisers and chili cook-offs. With every scoop we share — from spirited gatherings for El Monte and Monterey Park PD to community celebrations in Boyle Heights — we are fulfilling our mission: to support the heart of our future – those who selflessly server our community and the students of our schools!

For years, Dolores Chili has proudly supported our communities by donating our mouthwatering chili to golf tournaments that benefit local non-profits!

Our hearty chili fuels participants both on and off the course, helping maximize profits for schools, hospitals, sports clubs and more organizations.

When it comes to our community, we’re dedicated to making a difference.

AUGUSTINE L. MUÑOZ

1942-1998
Co-Founder

As one of the founders of Dolores Canning Co., Inc., Augustine Muñoz was a driving force in building Dolores Canning Co. into what it is today. Augustine “Augie” was known to many in the industry and in local political circles. Augie was a generous supporter of local law enforcement, including the California Highway Patrol. Along with his brothers Steve and Frank, Augie led the company for nearly 40 years. Sadly Augie was diagnosed with a rare form of Pancreatic Cancer in April 1998 and lost his brief battle after only 5 weeks.

Following Augie’s passing, a non-profit organization was founded to provide research funds in Augie’s name. The Augustine L. Muñoz Cancer Research Fund hosted the annual Augie Muñoz Memorial Golf Tournament for almost 30 years. Proceeds were donated in Augie’s name to the USC/Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center in Los Angeles. Over $350,000 has been donated to provide doctors and researchers valuable tools to find early methods of detection for Pancreatic Cancer. For more information about the work The Augustine L. Muñoz Cancer Research Fund did, please visit augiemunoz.org
